My First Post

Well, this is another attempt at starting a blog.  I want to sort of document some of the stuff that me and my family are doing to be ants, not grasshoppers. If you are wondering what that means check this out.

So anyway, here is a little story about us. We started off living in town on a small lot, about 125'X150'. I realized that was not enough space for me, my wife and son (now 2 boys and a newborn girl). We found 18 relatively secluded acres and built a house. We have managed to acquire a Jersey milk cow, 3 jersey steers and some chickens. We get all of our eggs from our chickens and will soon be getting most if not all of our dairy from Blossom (that is the Jersey cows name). At least one of the steers is gonna make a trip to the butcher soon (I am thinking the one named T-bone).  We have been storing some food and plan a pretty good sized garden this year. Possibly a small orchard as well. Our goal is to try to grow as much of our own food as possible.
